History

 

Vocational colleges are defined as educational institutions that train intermediate manpower at the associate degree level in Article 3 (f) of the Law No. 2809 on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions.

Fırat University Vocational School of Social Sciences started to serve with "Office Management and Secretarial" and "Tourism and Hotel Management" programs within Elazığ Vocational School in 1986-87 academic year and has been continuing its education and training services under the name of Vocational School of Social Sciences since 1990.

In addition to "Office Management and Secretarial" and "Tourism and Hotel Management" programs, "Computerized Accounting" program was opened in 1990 and "Business Administration" and "Local Administrations" programs were opened in 1994. In 2002, within the scope of the MEB-YÖK vocational colleges program development project, the name of the "Office Management and Secretarial" program remained the same and the names of the other programs were changed as "Accounting", "Business Administration", "Tourism and Hotel Management" and "Local Administrations";

 

Since 2009, as a result of the amendment made with the letters of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education dated 27/04/2009 and numbered 1916-012232, the Department of Office Services and Secretariat, Department of Accounting and Taxation, Department of Hotel Restaurant and Catering Services, Department of Marketing and Advertising, Department of Foreign Trade, Department of Management and Organization, Department of Law and Department of Finance within the Vocational School of Social Sciences, There are 8 departments, namely the Department of Banking and Insurance, and 11 programs, namely the Office Management and Executive Assistance Program, Accounting and Tax Applications Program, Tourism and Hotel Management Program, Cookery Program, Marketing Program, Foreign Trade Program, Business Management Program, Local Governments Program, Public Relations and Publicity Program, Banking and Insurance Program and Justice Program.

In accordance with the letter of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education numbered 12/04/2011-016121 and the letter regarding the organization of the Marketing and Foreign Trade Department within the Vocational Schools as two separate departments as the Marketing and Advertising Department and the Foreign Trade Department, the Marketing and Foreign Trade Department was divided into two as the Marketing and Advertising Department and the Foreign Trade Department. Prof. Dr. Yüksel ARSLANTAŞ is the director of our high school.
